Maunsel House Wedding Photographer Somerset: Lucy & Tim

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to find time for a full blog post, so I’m delighted to present Lucy & Tim’s Maunsel House Wedding :)

I can’t be exactly sure, but think that Lucy and Tim booked me a whole two years before their wedding this winter.  I remember being very pleased when they asked me to be their photographer as I’d seen the characterful Maunsel House featured in the wedding press and had been hoping for a booking there all of my own!  It didn’t disappoint.  Everywhere you look, there are objects to fire the imagination, from suits of armour to weapons, stuffed animals and even resident peacocks.  This wasn’t lost on Tim and his groomsmen, a very small army clad all in tweed and armed with smoking pipes.  Excellent work, gentlemen.

Lucy’s preparations were a two stage process, the second of which took place in the opulent bridal suite.  Gary from Koko Hair did an amazing job on her hair which he actually sewed into place.  Amazing!

Winter weddings aren’t without their challenges in terms of light, so I was really grateful firstly that it didn’t rain and secondly that Lucy and Tim made were keen to make the most of the daylight that we had.

Lucy is a big fan of The Divine Comedy and in particular lead singer Neil Hannon, so it’s fair to say that she was pretty pleased when the man himself sent his good wishes in via video clip in the Father of the Bride speech.

By complete coincidence, Lucy’s very good friend Michaela began working at Maunsel House in the run up to the wedding.  In all the weddings I’ve covered, I’ve seen a lot of amazing gestures by friends and families, but this one might just take the biscuit.  Or rather, the cake.  Michaella made the most extraordinary gingerbread cake version of Maunsel House.  I’m not sure I’ll ever see that surpassed…

Maunsel House really comes into its own after dark.  As the daylight fades, the fires come on and all of the taxidermy suddenly begin to look like they’re about to jump off the wall and sink their pointy teeth into you.  There were guns aplenty, just in case…

Lucy and Tim, it was a pleasure, all of it.   Thank you so much for having me
