What a day!

It’s always helpful when preparations, ceremony and reception take place within a square mile of one another.  What could possibly go wrong? I joined Sarah and her entourage where they were being well looked after at Hobbs in central Bristol.  From there, it wasn’t too much of a chore to join Jim and his groomsmen at the Lido for brunch.

After the bridal car was involved in an accident and written off in the weeks before the wedding, Plan B was to dress up a friend’s VW Combi instead.  Nice.  So with 10 minutes to go before the service, the question was, where was the van?  A call to the driver (boyfriend of one of the bridesmaids) found him still in bed and 20 minutes away.  Oh.  Desperate times call for desperate measures, so I mobilised my dad who happened to be down the road, into chauffeuring the bridal party to the church just in the nick of time. Phew.

That minor drama aside, the day went like a dream.  As well as a beautiful house, Burwalls has plenty of charming hidden paths.  Cracking venue which fully did justice to all Sarah and Jim’s planning
