“Have you ever photographed an African Wedding?” I was asked in the lift as I went to join H. I admitted to not having done so. “They’re a bit different to English weddings” came the reply.
It’s always interesting to cover a wedding that’s a little unusual in some way. I was, therefore, intrigued to find out exactly how an African wedding would differ.
Both H and C were getting ready in the same hotel, which made it very easy for me to spend time with them both. The relaxed atmosphere of the preparations would be with us for the rest of the day!
H and C had chosen to marry in a chapel in Harpenden surrounded by parkland. It’s a beautiful chapel anyway, but stepping inside, had been brought to life by the colours of the traditional Nigerian and Ugandan dress of some of the guests.
With the knot tied, we stepped out into a beautiful day, which is where we’ll pick up Part 2
