Lucy & Mark Wedding, venue – The Square Hotel, Bristol – Part 1
The forecast for Lucy and Mark’s Bristol wedding was, to say the least, grim. I suspect that even a biblical storm wouldn’t have wiped the smile off Lucy’s face, so it wasn’t likely to have too much of a bearing on proceedings. When the day came around, a little meteorological wedding magic intervened and the promised heavy rains actually held off until very late in the piece. Wonderful!
I’d started the day on familiar territory with Mark and his groomsmen in Clifton Village. The guys at the Bristol Barber Company took care of all things tonsorial with wet shaves all round and a haircut or two as well. There’s a tradition there of finishing the shave with a measure of absinthe – straight out of the wedding manual… I left to join the bridal preparations before Mark got to that point, still wondering whether he took his chances with the infamous green goblin!
It was only a brief walk to find Lucy who was getting ready with bridesmaids (another) Lucy, Holly, Emma and Millie. Lucy took it all in her stride and we were soon on the way to The Square Hotel for the ceremony. Best man Stan seemed to have a little trouble with the ring box, but got there in the end.
Lucy and Mark were now joined in matrimony, there’s plenty more of the day in Part 2
