Wedding Venue: The Rummer, Bristol
On a beautiful spring day, Lucy and John married in central Bristol.
I started the day with Lucy at the Brookes Guest House only a stone’s throw from where Lucy works as a florist. She was well looked after by Annabella who did a really super job with the bridal make-up. I also caught up with John who checked in for a style from Brad at Harry Blades. You’d be hard pushed to find a more funky hairdressers…
Early spring wedding timetables can at times be a little tight but not today. An early ceremony and the fact that no one had to walk more than 100 yards or so between the Bristol Registry Office and the reception at the Rummer meant that there was plenty of time for Lucy and John to put their stamp on the day. And so it was that a quiz provided a few rounds of fun in the middle of the day. Controversially, it was the top table who took the honours and a few boos; I may have helped with an answer or two :). Having freedom within the timetable also meant that we could make a bit of time for photos. It was definitely worth it.
You didn’t have to be called Lucy or John to get on the guest list, but it clearly helped. Not only did the best man and bridesmaid share the names of the happy couple, but I spoke to a number of others throughout the day. Bruce, Lucy and John’s much-loved dog, did not attend. I couldn’t help but wonder whether the fact that he didn’t share a name with either of them counted against him… He was, however, there in spirit, in photo and even made an appearance in the speeches.
Thanks Lucy and John for a wonderful day, it was a great pleasure being part of it
